PET REFINE TECHNOLOGY envisions recycling that goes beyond just one cycle.
HELIX™ is produced from recycled PET resin born from used PET bottles, which is then used to create regenerated PET bottles. Once HELIX™ has been incorporated into packaging, it can be recycled into HELIX™ again and again, realizing PET resin that is infinitely circulatable, like a helix.

Used PET bottles are collected and recycled from the roughly 600,000 tons of PET bottles sold in Japan each year.

While most PET bottles collected in Japan are transparent in color, there are instances in which residue such as coloring and nonwashable grime are found remaining.

Coloring, grime, and other lingering impurities are removed at the molecular level after breaking apart PET polymer chains.

After impurities are removed, a monomer called BHET is developed through purification, and then polymerized to produce PET.

Monomers are connected to produce PET resin, which we have named HELIX™.

PET bottles produced with HELIX™ possess quality equivalent to that of PET bottles produced from petroleum-derived materials. Not only that, but they can be recycled infinitely after use, no matter what type of recycled resin it derives from.

We have acquired an NOL (No Objection Letter) from the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) with regards to food-contact use, certifying the resin product's safety, quality, and clearing of food sanitation standards.

Reduction of CO₂ emissions
Our technology has undergone LCA study conducted by Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting on behalf of the Ministry of the Environment in FY2019. The study concluded that our technology reduces CO₂ emissions by 45% compared to petroleum-derived resin. Additionally, combined with the added efficiency at our factories as a result of TEPCO's power configuration, we can conclude a total of 47% reduction in CO₂ emissions.See details
